The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER these [messages] ranged in serried ranks, 1 by those who reprove severely, 2 By those (angels) who bring the Book and the Quran from Allah to mankind [Tafsir Ibn Kathir]. 3 Verily, most surely, your God is One 4 Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them – and the Lord of the sun’s rising points. 5 Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars 6 And to protect it from every rebellious devil. 7 (So) they should not strain their ears in the direction of the Exalted Assembly but be cast away from every side, 8 rejected, and theirs is an everlasting chastisement, 9 Save him who snatcheth a fragment, and there pursueth him a piercing flame. 10 So ask them, are they stronger in constitution, or those whom We have created. We have created them of sticky clay. 11 Yet while you are filled with wonder, they just scoff; 12 And when they are reminded, they remember not. 13 and when they see a miracle, they mock 14 and say: “This is nothing but plain sorcery. 15 "What! When we have died and become dust and bones, will we be brought back to life again, 16 Will our forefathers also be brought to life again?" 17 Say, "Yes indeed, and you will be brought low." 18 It will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e. the second blowing of the Trumpet)], and behold, they will be staring! 19 And they will say: Ah! woe be unto us! this is the Day of Requital. 20 This is the Day of Separation, which ye used to deny. 21
