And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud. 26 And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire. 27 And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud. 28 When I have shaped him, and breathed My spirit in him, fall you down, bowing before him!' 29 So, the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together. 30 But Satan did not; he refused to join those who prostrated themselves. 31 God asked him, "What is the matter with you, that you are not among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 Iblis replied, "I did not want to prostrate before a human being whom You have created out of mud-moulded clay". 33 He said: Then go thou forth from hence, for lo! thou art outcast. 34 "And the curse shall be on thee till the day of Judgment." 35 Iblis prayed, "Lord, grant me respite until the Day of Judgment". 36 Said Allah, “You are of those given respite.” 37 “Till the Day of a well-known time.” 38 He said: My Lord! because Thou hast made life evil to me, I will certainly make (evil) fair-seeming to them on earth, and I will certainly cause them all to deviate 39 "Except Your chosen, (guided) slaves among them." 40 Said He: "This is, with Me, a straight way: 41 No power shall you have over (all) My creatures except those who fall into error and follow you, 42 And lo! for all such, hell will be the promised place. 43 Unto it are seven portals; unto each portal is a portion of them assigned. 44
