۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 How is it that you are not helping one another? 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 And they will turn to one another, and question one another. 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 We had no power over you, but ye were wayward folk. 30 “So the Word of our Lord has proved true upon us; we will surely have to taste (the punishment).” 31 “We therefore led you astray, for we ourselves were astray!” 32 On that Day, they will all share the chastisement. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 And said: "Should we abandon our gods for the sake of an insane poet?" 36 Nay! he has come with the (very) Truth, and he confirms (the Message of) the messengers (before him). 37 Verily ye are going to taste a torment afflictive. 38 Ye are requited naught save what ye did - 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 Those! theirs shall be a provision known: 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 in the Gardens of Bliss. 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, 45 delicious to those who drink it 46 there is neither sickness in it, nor intoxication. 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 who are as chaste as sheltered eggs. 49 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 ‘That when we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, that we will either be rewarded or punished?’ 53 He will say: -- Do you wish to know where he is now?' 54 Then he looks, and sees him in the midst of Hell. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 Had it not been for the grace of my Lord I too would have been there (in Hell). 57 What, do we then not die 58 Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished? 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this better as a welcome, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Verily We! We have made it a temptation for the wrong-doers. 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 and its fruits are like the heads of devils. 65 Truly they will eat thereof and fill their bellies therewith. 66 And afterward, lo! thereupon they have a drink of boiling water 67 Then surely their return is towards hell. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 and rushed to follow them. 70 And indeed before them, most of the former people went astray. 71 though We had sent among them warners. 72 See then the end of those who were warned, 73 Save single-minded slaves of Allah. 74
