۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 What is the matter with you that you do not help each other? 25 Nay! on that Day they will be entirely submissive. 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 They will say, "No! It was you who would not believe -- 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 They were the ones, who on being told, "God is only One," become puffed-up with pride 35 and said, "Should we give up our idols for the sake of an insane poet". 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 And be rewarded but only for what you had done, 39 Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 40 For them is a known sustenance, 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise), 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 And with them shall be those who restrain the eyes, having beautiful eyes; 48 (Delicate and pure) as if they were (hidden) eggs (well) preserved. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 A speaker of them saith: Lo! I had a comrade 51 Who said: art thou of those who confess to the doctrine of Resurrection: 52 ‘That when we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, that we will either be rewarded or punished?’ 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 But for my Lord's blessing, I were one of the arraigned. 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 Is this not a better reward than the tree of Zaqqum 62 Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers. 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of Shayatin (devils); 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 And behold, above all this they will be confounded with burning despair! 67 then their return is to Hell. 68 for, behold, they found their forebears on a wrong way, 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 And certainly most of the ancients went astray before them, 71 though We had sent warners among them. 72 Then see how was the end of those warned, 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
