۞ Gather together those who did wrong and their comrades and that which they were wont to worship 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 And stop them; verily they are to be questioned: 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 So the sentence of our Lord has come to pass against us: (now) we shall surely taste; 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 for, behold, whenever they were told, "There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 40 Those will have a provision determined - 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 In gardens of delight, 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 no headiness will be in it, and they will not get drunk thereon. 47 They will have with them loving wives with big black and white eyes 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then some of them will turn to others, and will ask each other. 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 who used to ask, 'Do you really believe that 52 When we are dead and turned to dust and bones, shall we be recompensed?" 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 He looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me. 56 But for Allah's favour, I should be one of those who have been mustered here. 57 Are we not then to die 58 [again,] beyond our previous death, and that we shall never [again] be made to suffer? 59 Truly, this is the supreme success! 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water. 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 Yet they hasten to follow in their footsteps. 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 See then the end of those who were warned, 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
