The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
THE HOUR HAS come and split is the moon. 1 But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." 2 They denied (the Truth) and followed their own lusts. Yet everything will come to a decision 3 Tidings containing a deterrent have come to them 4 Perfect wisdom (this Quran), but (the preaching of) warners benefit them not, 5 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) on the day when the Summoner summoneth unto a painful thing. 6 They will come out of the graves with downcast eyes like an expanding swarm of locusts. 7 They shall be hurrying forth towards the caller, and the unbelievers (who had once denied this Day), will say: “This is a woeful Day.” 8 ۞ Before them the People of Noah rejected (their messenger): they rejected Our servant, and said, "Here is one possessed!", and he was driven out. 9 Then he supplicated to his Lord, (saying): 'I am overcome, help me' 10 So We opened the gates of heaven, with water pouring forth. 11 and caused the earth to gush with springs, so that the waters met for a predestined matter. 12 We carried him in a well built, watertight vessel made from planks (of wood) 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 And indeed, We have left this as a sign, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 15 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 Indeed, We sent upon them a screaming wind on a day of continuous misfortune, 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 22
