۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 We had no power over you. You were a rebellious people, 30 "So now has been proved true, against us, the word of our Lord that we shall indeed (have to) taste (the punishment of our sins). 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 Whenever it was said to them: “There is no true deity apart from Allah,” they waxed proud 35 and would say: "Shall we, then, give up our deities at the bidding of a mad poet?" 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 Except for God's sincere servants; 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 in the Gardens of Bliss 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 They will be served with a cup full of crystal clear wine, 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated. 47 And with them will be chaste females, restraining their glances (desiring none except their husbands), with wide and beautiful eyes. 48 Like sheltered eggs in a nest. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 [And] he adds: "Would you like to look [and see him]?" 54 and then he looks and sees that [companion of his] in the midst of the blazing fire, 55 He saith: By Allah, thou verily didst all but cause my ruin, 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 Are we not then to die 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 Verily this is the supreme achievement! 60 and for the like of this let the workers work. 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 Truly We have made it (as) a trail for the Zalimun (polytheists, disbelievers, wrong-doers, etc.). 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 Then most surely they shall eat of it and fill (their) bellies with it. 66 Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). 67 Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 Observe, then, what was the end of those that had been warned, 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
