۞ Gather together the evildoers, their wives, and that they were worshipping, 22 Beside Allah, and lead them on to the path of the Flaming Fire. 23 And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned." 24 "Why help you not one another?" 25 In fact, on that day they will be submissive. 26 They will then turn towards each other (and start wrangling). 27 These say, 'Why, you of old would come to us from the right hand.' 28 The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers, 29 "And we had no authority over you. Nay! But you were transgressing people (disobedient, polytheists, and disbelievers). 30 and so we became deserving of the Word of our Lord that we shall be made to suffer chastisement. 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 So all of them on that day are sharers in the chastisement. 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 for, behold, whenever they were told, "There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance 35 And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 You will indeed taste a painful punishment, 38 and will be recompensed only for what you deserve. 39 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 40 For them is the sustenance known to Us. 41 and fruits while they are honored. 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 On couches facing one another; 44 Round them will be passed a cup of pure wine; 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then they will turn to one another, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say: 'I had a companion 51 Who said: What! are you indeed of those who accept (the truth)? 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 (A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?" 54 Then looketh he and seeth him in the depth of hell. 55 He will say, "By God! You almost brought me to ruin! 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I should certainly have been among those brought (there)! 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished? 59 Truly, this is the supreme success! 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is such [a paradise] the better welcome - or the [hellish] tree of deadly fruit? 62 We have appointed it as a trial for the evildoers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 The fruit thereof is as though the hoods of the serpents. 65 and they eat of it, and of it fill their bellies, 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 Then shall their return be to the (Blazing) Fire. 68 They found their fathers erring, 69 So they (too) made haste to follow in their footsteps! 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 But We sent aforetime, among them, (messengers) to admonish them;- 72 and behold what happened in the end to those that had been warned [to no avail]! 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
