۞ [The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship 22 "Besides Allah, and lead them to the Way to the (Fierce) Fire! 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 'But what is the matter with you that you cannot help one another?,'" 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 They will say: verily ye! ye were wont to come unto us Imposing. 28 They will say: nay! ye yourselves were not believers. 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 The sentence of our Lord has come true for us. We have certainly to taste (the punishment), 31 So we led you astray; we ourselves were strayed.” 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 Certainly, that is how We deal with Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, sinners, criminals, the disobedient to Allah, etc.). 34 for, behold, whenever they were told, "There is no deity save God," they would glory in their arrogance 35 And said: Shall we forsake our gods for a mad poet? 36 Nay, but he brought the Truth, and he confirmed those sent (before him). 37 Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty;- 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 40 Whose provision is predetermined -- 41 fruits of various kinds; and they shall be honoured, 42 In Gardens of Felicity, 43 On couches facing one another; 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 White and delicious to the drinkers; 46 wherein no sickness is, neither intoxication; 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected. 49 Then they will advance unto each other, mutually questioning. 50 Said one of the speakers: "I had a friend 51 who was wont to ask [me,] 'Why - art thou really one of those who believe it to be true 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!” 56 If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]. 57 What, do we then not die 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 Verily, this - this indeed - is the triumph supreme!" 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 We have appointed it as a trial for the evildoers. 63 It is a tree that grows at the bottom of Hell. 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. 68 Truly they found their fathers on the wrong Path; 69 So in their footsteps they are being hastened on. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And indeed We had sent Heralds of warnings among them. 72 See how terrible was the end of those who were warned. 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
