۞ (Then will the command be given): “Muster all the wrong-doers and their spouses and the deities whom they used to serve 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 and stop them there for questioning: 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 But they, that Day, are in surrender. 26 And some of them shall advance towards others, questioning each other. 27 They will say, "You used to come at us from the right." 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray. 32 So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 And to say: What! shall we indeed give up our gods for the sake of a mad poet? 36 No, indeed, he has brought the truth, and confirmed the Messengers. 37 Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty;- 38 and not be recompensed, except according to what you were doing.' 39 Save the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 fruits. And they are receivers of generosity 42 In gardens of pleasure 43 sitting face to face upon couches, 44 a goblet from a spring shall be passed round to them 45 White, a pleasure unto the drinkers. 46 Neither dulling the senses nor intoxicating, 47 and with them wide-eyed maidens restraining their glances 48 As if they were eggs, safely hidden. 49 Then shall some of them advance to others, questioning each other. 50 The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” – 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 ‘That when we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, that we will either be rewarded or punished?’ 53 Do you want to see him?' " 54 Then he will look down and see him in the midst of the Flaming Fire. 55 And he will say: by Allah, thou hadst wellnigh causedest me to perish. 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 "Is it (the case) that we shall not die, 58 Saving our former death, and are we not to be punished? 59 Indeed, this is the great attainment. 60 For the like of it should the workers work. 61 Is this better or the tree of Zaqqum 62 Surely We have made it to be a trial to the unjust. 63 Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire, 64 its fruit [as repulsive] as satans' heads; 65 The dwellers of hell will eat that fruit and fill-up their bellies. 66 Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). 67 Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 so they are rushing to follow in their footsteps. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And indeed We sent among them warners (Messengers); 72 So behold what wise hath been the end of those who were warned. 73 Other than the chosen creatures of God. 74
