We also favored Moses and Aaron 114 And saved them and their people from the great distress, 115 And We helped them, so they overcame (their troubles); 116 And We gave them the clear Scripture 117 and guided them to the straight path; 118 And We left (this blessing) for them among generations (to come) in later times: 119 Peace be on Moses and Aaron. 120 Thus do We reward the good-doers. 121 Surely they were both of Our believing servants. 122 And verily, Iliyas (Elias) was one of the Messengers. 123 When he said to his people: "Will you not fear Allah? 124 “What! You worship Baal (an idol) and leave the Best Creator?” – 125 Allah is your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients' 126 But they denounced him as a liar, so they will surely be arraigned (for punishment), 127 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 128 And We perpetuated to him (praise) among the later generations. 129 Peace be with the followers of Elias. 130 Even thus do We reward the doers of good. 131 Verily he was one of Our bondmen believing. 132 And verily Lut was of the sent ones. 133 when We delivered him and his people all together, 134 Save an old woman among those who stayed behind; 135 Then We destroyed the rest [i.e. the towns of Sodom at the place of the Dead Sea (now) in Palestine]. [See the "Book of History" by Ibn Kathir]. 136 You pass by (their ruined town) in the morning 137 And at night. Will ye not therefore reflect? 138
