Al-Saaffaat 4 of 5
And assuredly We gave grace unto Musa and Harun. 114 and We delivered both of them and their people from the great calamity. 115 And helped them, so they were victorious. 116 We gave them the explicit Book, 117 And showed them the straight path, 118 and We left them thus to be succeeded by a group [of followers] among later generations: 119 Salamun (peace) be upon Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron)!" 120 Even so We recompense the good-doers; 121 they were among Our believing servants. 122 And verily, llyas was one of the sent ones. 123 He told his people, "Why do you not have fear of God? 124 Do you call upon Ba'l and leave the best of creators - 125 God, your Lord, and the Lord of your fathers?" 126 They called him a liar. Thus, all of them will suffer torment 127 except Allah's chosen servants. 128 And We left for him (a goodly remembrance) among generations (to come) in later times; 129 Peace be on Ilyas. 130 This is how We reward the virtuous. 131 Verily he was one of Our bondmen believing. 132 And verily, Lout (Lot) was one of the Messengers. 133 [and so,] when [We decreed the doom of his sinful town,] We saved him and his household, 134 except for an old woman who remained behind. 135 Then We destroyed the rest [i.e. the towns of Sodom at the place of the Dead Sea (now) in Palestine]. [See the "Book of History" by Ibn Kathir]. 136 You pass by their desolate habitations in the morning 137 And at night. Will ye not therefore reflect? 138

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
