S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Sad. By the Qur'an full of admonition. 1 Those who deny the truth are steeped in arrogance and hostility. 2 How many a generation have We destroyed afore them, and they cried when there was not time of fleeing. 3 And they (Arab pagans) wonder that a warner (Prophet Muhammad SAW) has come to them from among themselves! And the disbelievers say: "This (Prophet Muhammad SAW) is a sorcerer, a liar. 4 Has he turned so many gods into one deity? This is indeed a strange thing!" 5 The chiefs among them go about, exhorting: Go and be staunch to your gods! Lo! this is a thing designed. 6 "We have not heard (the like) of this among the people of these later days. This is nothing but an invention! 7 Can it be that he alone has received the Quran?" In fact, they have doubts about My Quran and this is because they have not yet faced (My) torment. 8 Or have they the treasuries of thy Lord's mercy, the All-mighty, the All-giving? 9 Or is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them theirs? Then let them ascend by ropes! 10 The army is defeated as (were) the confederates. 11 Before them the people of Noah denied the truth, as did the 'Ad and Pharaoh of the Stakes, 12 And Samood and the people of Lut and the dwellers of the thicket; these were the parties. 13 Not one (of them) but rejected the messengers, but My punishment came justly and inevitably (on them). 14
