Has the story reached you, of the honoured guests [three angels; Jibrael (Gabriel) along with another two] of Ibrahim (Abraham)? 24 When they came to him, they said: "Peace." He answered: "Peace." They were a people he did not recognise. 25 Then he turned to his household, so brought out a roasted calf [as the property of Ibrahim (Abraham) was mainly cows]. 26 And placed it near them; he said, "Will you not eat?" 27 (When they did not eat), He conceived a fear of them. They said, "Fear not," and they gave him glad tidings of a son endowed with knowledge. 28 Then his wife came forward with a loud voice, she smote her face, and said: "A barren old woman!" 29 They answered: "Thus has thy Sustainer decreed; and verily, He alone is truly wise, all-knowing!" 30 ۞ Said [Abraham]: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?" 31 They replied: “Behold, we have been sent to a wicked people 32 "To bring on, on them, (a shower of) stones of clay (brimstone), 33 marked out in thy Sustainer's sight for [the punishment of] such as have wasted their own selves." 34 And in the course of time We brought out [of Lot 's city] such [few] believers as were there: 35 – and We did not find there any, apart from a single house of Muslims – 36 and We left therein a Sign for those who fear the grievous chastisement. 37 And in Moses (too, there is a portent) when We sent him unto Pharaoh with clear warrant, 38 But Pharaoh turned away, showing arrogance on account of his power, and said (about Moses): “He is either a sorcerer or a madman.” 39 So We seized him and his hosts and flung them in the sea, for he was reprobate. 40 And in 'Aad [was a sign], when We sent against them the barren wind. 41 It did not leave aught on which it blew, but it made it like ashes. 42 And in Thamud's also was a lesson, when it was said unto them: enjoy yourselves for a season. 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on. 44 Then they could not even stand (on their feet), nor could they help themselves. 45 And before them the nation of Noah, indeed they were a debauched nation. 46
