In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Sad. By the Koran, containing the Remembrance -- 1 But nay - they who are bent on denying the truth are lost in [false] pride, and [hence] deeply in the wrong. 2 How many a generation We have destroyed before them, and they cried out when there was no longer time for escape! 3 And they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves, and the disbelievers say: This is an enchanter, a liar. 4 What, has he made the gods One God? This is indeed a wondrous thing' 5 And their leaders launch forth [thus]: "Go ahead, and hold steadfastly onto your deities: this, behold, is the only thing to do! 6 "We never heard (the like) of this among the people of these latter days: this is nothing but a made-up tale!" 7 Hath unto him the admonition been sent down from amongst us! Yea! they are in doubt concerning My admonition. Yea! they have not yet tasted My torment. 8 Or have they the treasuries of thy Lord's mercy, the All-mighty, the All-giving? 9 Or have they the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all between? If so, let them mount up with the ropes and means (to reach that end)! 10 They are only a small band among the defeated confederate tribes. 11 Before them (were many who) belied Messengers, the people of Nuh (Noah); and 'Ad; and Fir'aun (Pharaoh) the man of stakes (with which he used to punish the people), 12 So also did the people of Thamud, Lot, and the dwellers of the Forest. 13 There was not one but belied the apostles, wherefore justified was My wrath. 14
