S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Sad. By the Quran, full of admonition! 1 But nay - they who are bent on denying the truth are lost in [false] pride, and [hence] deeply in the wrong. 2 How many generations have We destroyed before them. They called: 'The time is neither of escape, nor safety' 3 And they marvel that there should come unto them a warner from among themselves. And the infidels say: this is a magician and a liar! 4 "Has he made the aliha (gods) (all) into One Ilah (God - Allah). Verily, this is a curious thing!" 5 And the Council of them depart, saying 'Go! Be steadfast to your gods; this is a thing to be desired. 6 We have not heard of this in later religion. This is naught but an invention. 7 What! Upon him alone from among all of us should a [divine] reminder have been bestowed from on high?" Nay, but it is My Own reminder that they distrust! Nay, they have not yet tasted the suffering which I do impose! 8 Or is it that they have the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the great Giver? 9 Is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, for them? So would they not just ascend using ropes? 10 (As they denied Allah's Message) they will be a defeated host like the confederates of the old times (who were defeated). 11 The folk of Noah before them denied (their messenger) and (so did the tribe of) A'ad, and Pharaoh firmly planted, 12 and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] 13 There was none of them but called the apostles liars, so just was My retribution. 14
