And We created not the heaven and the earth and all that is between them in vain. That is the opinion of those who disbelieve. And woe unto those who disbelieve, from the Fire! 27 Shall We make those who believe and work righteous works like unto the corrupters in the earth; or shall We make the God-fearing like unto the wicked! 28 A Book We have sent down to thee, Blessed, that men possessed of minds may ponder its signs and so remember. 29 We granted Solomon to David, a blessed servant of Ours and certainly the most repentant person. 30 When there were shown to him at eventide lightfooted coursers 31 He said: verily I have loved the love of earthly good above the remembrance of my Lord until the sun hath disappeared behind the veil. 32 Bring them back to me; so he began to slash (their) legs and necks. 33 Indeed, We tried Solomon and placed a body (of a child) upon his throne, then he repented. 34 He said, "My Lord, forgive me and grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to anyone after me. Indeed, You are the Bestower." 35 So, We subjected to him the wind, it blew gently to his order whithersoever he willed, 36 and all the devils who built and dived for him. 37 As also others bound together in fetters. 38 (Saying): This is Our gift, so bestow thou, or withhold, without reckoning. 39 Indeed an exalted position of nearness awaits him and an excellent resort. 40
