We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them, all for nothing. Only those who deny imagine so. So for the unbelievers there is woe from the fire. 27 Or should we treat those who believe and do righteous deeds like corrupters in the land? Or should We treat those who fear Allah like the wicked? 28 [All this have We expounded in this] blessed divine writ which We have revealed unto thee, [O Muhammad,] so that men may ponder over its messages, and that those who are endowed with insight may take them to heart. 29 And We bestowed on David, Solomon. How excellent a slave! Lo! he was ever turning in repentance (toward Allah). 30 When in the evening were presented to him the standing steeds, 31 And he said: "Alas! I did love the good (these horses) instead of remembering my Lord (in my 'Asr prayer)" till the time was over, and (the sun) had hidden in the veil (of night). 32 Bring them back to me' And he hacked their legs and necks (slaughtering them for Allah). 33 Indeed, We tried Solomon and placed a body (of a child) upon his throne, then he repented. 34 He said: 'Forgive me my Lord, and give me a kingdom the like of which will not befall any after me, surely, You are the Giver' 35 So We subjected the wind to him, so that it ran softly by his command wherever he wished; 36 as well as all the rebellious forces [that We made to work for him] - every kind of builder and diver 37 The rest of the devils were bound in chains. 38 This is Our gift, so bestow thou or withhold, without rendering an account. 39 And he enjoyed, indeed, a Near Approach to Us, and a beautiful Place of (Final) Return. 40
