Elucidated (Fussilat)

54 verses, revealed in Mecca after Forgiver (Ghaafer) before Consultation (Al-Shooraa)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Ha'. Mim. 1 [This is] a revelation from the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful - 2 A Scripture whereof the verses are expounded, a Lecture in Arabic for people who have knowledge, 3 As a giver of good tidings and a warner; but most of them turn away, so they do not hear. 4 And they say: Our hearts are protected from that unto which thou (O Muhammad) callest us, and in our ears there is a deafness, and between us and thee there is a veil. Act, then. Lo! we also shall be acting. 5 Say, "I am only a human being like yourselves. It has been revealed to me that your God is One God. So take the straight path to Him and ask His forgiveness." Woe to those who associate others with Him, 6 who do not pay zakat and have no faith in the life to come. 7 (As for) those who believe and do good, they shall surely have a reward never to be cut off. 8
