And whatsoever of affliction befalleth you is owing to that which your hands have earned; and He pardoneth much. 30 And you cannot escape in the earth, and you shall not have a guardian or a helper besides Allah. 31 And of His portents are the ships, like banners on the sea; 32 He could stop the wind if He pleased, then they would be stranded on its surface. Surely there are signs in this for every one who perseveres and is grateful. 33 Or He could destroy them for what they earned; but He pardons much. 34 And (that) those who dispute about Our communications may know; there is no place of refuge for them. 35 Whatever you have been given is only a temporary provision of this life, but that which is with God is better and more lasting for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord; 36 (This reward will be for) those who keep away from major sins and indecency, who forgive when they are made angry, 37 And those who respond to their Lord and keep up prayer, and their rule is to take counsel among themselves, and who spend out of what We have given them. 38 who, when they are attacked, defend themselves. 39 The guerdon of an ill-deed is an ill the like thereof. But whosoever pardoneth and amendeth, his wage is the affair of Allah. Lo! He loveth not wrong-doers. 40 And there is no way of reproach against those who take revenge after being wronged. 41 blame falls only on those who wrong men and transgress on this earth without justification, such will have a painful punishment, 42 But withal, if one is patient in adversity and forgives - this, behold, is indeed something to set one's heart upon! 43
