Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 By the Book that makes things clear, 2 We have made it an Arabic Koran in order that you understand. 3 And Verily, it (this Quran) is in the Mother of the Book (i.e. Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz), before Us, indeed Exalted, full of Wisdom. 4 Then should We turn the message away, disregarding you, because you are a transgressing people? 5 How many a Prophet did We send to the ancients, 6 And not a prophet came unto them but him they were wont to mock. 7 and so, [in the end,] We destroyed them [even though they were] of greater might than these: and the [very] image of those people of old became a thing of the past. 8 And if you ask them, “Who has created the heavens and the earth?”, they will surely say, “They are created by the Most Honourable, the All Knowing.” 9 Who has made the earth a cradle for you and made thereon paths for you so that, hopefully, you may find your way 10 He Who sent down water from the sky in a determined measure, and thereby We revived a dead land: likewise will you be raised up (from the earth) -- 11 And He it is who has created all opposites. And He [it is who] has provided for you all those ships and animals whereon you ride, 12 So that you may properly mount their backs, and may remember your Lord’s favour when you have mounted them, and say, “Purity is to Him, Who has given this ride in our control, and we did not have the strength for it.” 13 Hence, verily, it is unto Him that we must always turn." 14 Yet they make some of His servants partners in His divinity. Man is clearly ungrateful! 15
