The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the Night as it conceals (the light); 1 And the day resplendent 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 surely your strivings are divergent. 4 We shall facilitate the path to bliss 5 And believeth in goodness; 6 We will ease him toward ease. 7 But for those who are niggardly, horde their wealth, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. 14 None shall enter it save the most wretched, 15 Who had denied and turned away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 And no one has done a favour to him, for which he should be compensated. 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
