Al-Zukhruf 3 of 7
When Abraham said to his father and his people, "I boldly renounce what you worship 26 except the One Who created me; and, behold, it is He Who will direct me to the Right Way.” 27 And he made it a word remaining among his descendants that they might return [to it]. 28 I gave them and their fathers days of enjoyment until the truth and a clear Messenger came to them. 29 And now that the Truth hath come unto them they say: This is mere magic, and lo! we are disbelievers therein. 30 And they say: wherefore hath not this Qur'an been revealed to a man of the two cities who was great. 31 Is it they who apportion the mercy of your Lord? It is We who distribute among them their livelihood in the life of this world, and raise some of them above others in rank, so that they may take one another into service; and the mercy of your Lord is better than [the wealth] which they amass. 32 And were it not that all people had been a single nation, We would certainly have assigned to those who disbelieve in the Beneficent Allah (to make) of silver the roofs of their houses and the stairs by which they ascend. 33 And doors (of silver) for their houses, (silver) couches for reclining, 34 And ornaments of gold. Yet all that would have been but a provision of the life of the world. And the Hereafter with your Lord would have been for those who keep from evil. 35

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
