Whoso blinds himself to the Remembrance of the All-merciful, to him We assign a Satan for comrade; 36 And verily they hinder them from the way, whilst they deem that they are rightly guided. 37 Till, when (such a one) comes to Us, he says [to his Qarin (Satan / devil companion)] "Would that between me and you were the distance of the two easts (or the east and west)" a worst (type of) companion (indeed)! 38 It shall not profit you today, since you did evil, that you are partners in the chastisement. 39 Canst thou then make the deaf to hear, or give direction to the blind or to such as (wander) in manifest error? 40 Whether We take thee away, We shall take vengeance upon them, 41 Or (if) We show you that wherewith We threaten them, then verily, We have perfect command over them. 42 So adhere to that which is revealed to you. Indeed, you are on a straight path. 43 And most surely it is a reminder for you and your people, and you shall soon be questioned. 44 And ask them – did any of the Noble Messengers We sent before you, appoint any other Gods except the Most Gracious, whom they used to worship? 45
