And whoever is blinded from remembrance of the Most Merciful - We appoint for him a devil, and he is to him a companion. 36 Devils divert men from the [right] way, while they think that they are rightly guided. 37 And when he comes before Us, he shall say: 'Would that there had been between me and you, the distance of the two Easts' Evil is the companion. 38 It shall not profit you today, since you did evil, that you are partners in the chastisement. 39 So will you make the deaf listen or show the path to the blind, and to those who are in open error? (The disbelievers whose hearts are sealed, are deaf and blind to the truth). 40 And if We take thee away, We surely shall take vengeance on them, 41 or We show you a part of that which We have promised them, for indeed We have power over them. 42 So, hold fast to the Book that has been revealed to you, you are surely on the right path, 43 And it is undoubtedly an honour for you and your people; and you will soon be questioned. 44 Ask those of Our Messengers We sent before thee: Have We appointed, apart from the All-merciful, gods to be served? 45
