The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O THOU [in thy solitude] enfolded! 1 Arise and deliver thy warning! 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And your garments purify! 4 Pollution shun! 5 And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase, 6 and be patient unto thy Lord. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave him to Me, the one whom I created single. 11 And for whom I appointed wealth extended. 12 and children living in his presence, 13 And made (life) smooth for him. 14 Yet is he greedy-that I should add (yet more);- 15 Never. He is refractory of Our signs. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 May he be condemned! 19 yea, he destroys himself, the way he meditates! 20 Then looked he, 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 Naught is this but the word of Man. 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It leaves nothing, nor does it spare; 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen keepers. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
