Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language Allah, and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 I swear by the illustrious Book. 2 Indeed, We sent it down during a blessed night. Indeed, We were to warn [mankind]. 3 (We revealed it on the Night) wherein every matter is wisely determined 4 determined as a bidding from Us, (We are ever sending) 5 as a Mercy from your Lord. Surely He is All-Hearing, All-Seeing, 6 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and all between them, if ye (but) have an assured faith. 7 La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). It is He Who gives life and causes death, your Lord and the Lord of your fore-fathers. 8 Yet they are in doubt, playing. 9 So watch for the day when the sky begins to emit clear smoke, 10 covering the people; this is a painful chastisement. 11 (People will then say): “Our Lord, remove this scourge from us; we shall believe.” 12 But how will they take heed? Such are they that a Messenger came to them clearly expounding the Truth, 13 Yet they turned away from him and said: one tutored, one distraced. 14 Verily, We shall remove the torment for a while. Verily! You will revert. 15 on the Day when We shall seize [all sinners] with a most mighty onslaught, We shall, verily, inflict Our retribution [on you as well]! 16 ۞ And before them We indeed tried the people of Firaun, and an Honourable Noble Messenger came to them. 17 [Saying], "Render to me the servants of Allah. Indeed, I am to you a trustworthy messenger," 18 And [saying], "Be not haughty with Allah. Indeed, I have come to you with clear authority. 19 I seek protection from my Lord and your Lord from your decision of stoning me. 20 And if ye put no faith in me, then let me go. 21 (But they were aggressive), so he [Musa (Moses)] called upon his Lord (saying): "These are indeed the people who are Mujrimun (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals, etc.)." 22 'Then set thou forth with My servants in a watch of the night; surely you will be followed. 23 And leave the sea behind you as calm as ever. Surely they are an army that is doomed to be drowned.” 24 [And so they perished: and] how many gardens did they leave behind, and water-runnels, 25 And green crops (fields etc.) and goodly places, 26 And the comfort they enjoyed. 27 As such (it was). And We made other people inherit them. 28 Then neither the sky shed tears over them nor the earth. They were granted no respite. 29

Notes and Instructions
ColorfulQuran.com displays pages in one of three Arabic fonts. Each may appear with a one-third chance, adding more diversity to the already diverse colors. And the words remain unchanged forever. ColorfulQuran.com will have more beautiful fonts soon, God willing.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
