Smoke (Al-Dukhaan)
59 verses, revealed in Mecca after Vanity (Al-Zukhruf) before Kneeling (Al-Jaatheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
HaMeem 1 I swear by the Book that makes manifest (the truth). 2 Behold, from on high have We bestowed it on a blessed night: for, verily, We have always been warning [man]. 3 In it every wise matter is determined 4 As a command from Our presence - Lo! We are ever sending - 5 A mercy from your Lord, surely He is the Hearing, the Knowing, 6 The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure. 7 There is no deity save Him: He grants life and deals death: He is your Sustainer as well as the Sustainer of your forebears of old. 8 Nay! They play in doubt. 9 Watch for the Day when the heaven will bring clear smoke, 10 which will smother the people. They will say, "This is a painful torment. 11 O our Sustainer, relieve us of suffering, for, verily, we [now] believe [in Thee]!" 12 How shall the message be (effectual) for them, seeing that an Messenger explaining things clearly has (already) come to them,- 13 but then they turned away from him, saying: 'He is tutored, mad' 14 'Behold, We are removing the chastisement a little; behold, you revert!' 15 The Day when We shall seize them with a mighty seizing, that will be the Day on which We shall inflict upon you full retribution. 16 ۞ We had tried the people of Pharaoh before them. A respected prophet had come to them (saying): 17 (and said): “Deliver to me Allah's servants. I am a trustworthy Messenger to you, 18 Do not rise up against Allah, I come to you with clear authority. 19 And indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord, lest you stone me. 20 And if you do not believe me, [at least] stand away from me!" 21 Then he supplicated to his Lord saying: 'These are sinful people' 22 And [God said]: "Go thou forth with My servants by night, for you will surely be pursued; 23 Then leave the sea calm they are an army that will be drowned. 24 They left - how many! of gardens and springs. 25 and sown fields and splendid mansions, 26 And the delights which they had been enjoying! 27 Thus. And We caused to inherit it another people. 28 And the heavens and the earth wept not over them, nor were they respited. 29

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
