We rescued the Israelites from the humiliating torment 30 at the hands of Pharaoh: he was a tyrant who exceeded all bounds. 31 and We chose them, out of a knowledge above the nations (of their time). 32 and gave them signs wherein there was a manifest trial. 33 These people say, 34 "There is not but our first death, and we will not be resurrected. 35 "Then bring (back) our forefathers, if what ye say is true!" 36 Are they better, or the people of Tubba? And those who were before them? We destroyed them; they were indeed criminals. 37 And We did not create the heavens and earth and that between them in play. 38 We created them with definite purpose; but most of them do not understand. 39 The appointed time for all of them will be the Day of Judgment 40 The day on which a friend shall not avail (his) friend aught, nor shall they be helped, 41 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. 42
