And indeed We rescued the Descendants of Israel from a disgraceful torture. 30 [inflicted on them] by Pharaoh, seeing that he was truly outstanding among those who waste their own selves; 31 We knowingly exalted them (i.e., the Children of Israel) above other peoples of the world 32 and gave them signs wherein there was a manifest trial. 33 Yet these say: 34 "There is nothing beyond our first death, and we shall not be raised again. 35 Bring us our fathers, if what you say is true' 36 What! Are they better than the people of Tubba and those who were before them? We destroyed them because they were guilty of sin. 37 We created not the heavens, the earth, and all between them, merely in (idle) sport: 38 We did not create them except in Truth. But most of them do not know. 39 Surely the day of separation is their appointed term, of all of them 40 (when wrong will be distinguished from right). On this day friends will be of no benefit to one another, nor will they receive any help 41 except those on whom Allah will have mercy. He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 42
