and We saved the Children of Israel from a humiliating punishment 30 from Pharaoh, who ranked high in sin, 31 and indeed, We chose them knowingly above all other people, 32 And sent them tokens to bring out the best in them. 33 Verily, these (Quraish) people are saying: 34 'There is nothing except the first death, we shall never be revived. 35 So bring our ancestors back, if you are truthful." 36 Are they better than the tribe of Tubba (name of a Yemenite tribal chief) and those who lived before them? We destroyed them. They were criminals. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth and all that is in-between the twain sporting. 38 We created them not except with truth (i.e. to examine and test those who are obedient and those who are disobedient and then reward the obedient ones and punish the disobedient ones), but most of them know not. 39 Verily the Day of Distinction is the term appointed for all of them. 40 the Day when no friend shall be of the least avail to his friend, and when none shall be succoured 41 Save those on whom Allah shall have mercy; surely He is the Mighty the Merciful. 42
