and We saved the Children of Israel from a humiliating punishment 30 (We delivered them) from Pharaoh. Lo! he was a tyrant of the wanton ones. 31 We knowingly exalted them (i.e., the Children of Israel) above other peoples of the world 32 and sent them revelations of which some were a clear trial for them. 33 As to these (Quraish), they say forsooth: 34 “There is nothing except our dying just once, and we will not be raised.” 35 So then, bring forth our forefathers [as witnesses,] if what you claim is true!" 36 Are they better or the people of Tubba' and those who were before them whom We destroyed? Indeed they were sinners. 37 And We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, in play. 38 We created them not save in truth; but most of them know it not. 39 The appointed time for all of them will be the Day of Judgment 40 the Day when a friend shall be of no avail to his friend nor shall they be helped, 41 Save him on whom Allah hath mercy. Lo! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 42
