And indeed We rescued the Descendants of Israel from a disgraceful torture. 30 from Pharaoh who was most prominent among the prodigals. 31 And We chose them aforetime above the nations, knowingly, 32 And We vouchsafed unto them signs wherein was a manifest favour. 33 These men do say, 34 "After we die, we shall never be raised to life again. 35 So then, bring forth our forefathers [as witnesses,] if what you claim is true!" 36 Are these better or the people of Tubba and those who went before them? We destroyed them for they were a criminal people. 37 We did not idly create the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them; 38 We created them with definite purpose; but most of them do not understand. 39 The Day of Final Decision is the appointed time for all; 40 The Day when no protector can avail his client in aught, and no help can they receive, 41 Save him on whom Allah hath mercy. Lo! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 42
