The tree of al-Zaqqum 43 The food of sinners. 44 Like molten copper; it churns in their bellies. 45 As the seething of boiling water. 46 [It will be commanded], "Seize him and drag him into the midst of the Hellfire, 47 Then pour the punishment of boiling water over his head, 48 "Taste it," (they will be told). "You were indeed the mighty and noble! 49 This is what you doubted?" 50 [As against this] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves in a state secure, 51 Within gardens and springs, 52 wearing [garments] of silk and brocade, facing one another [in love]. 53 Thus shall it be: and We shall espouse them to fair, wide-eyed maidens. 54 They will call for every kind of fruit with satisfaction. 55 They will not taste death therein, except the first death; and He will preserve them from the torment of the Flaming Fire. 56 A bounty from thy Lord. That! that is the supreme achievement. 57 THUS, THEN, [O Prophet,] have We made this [divine writ] easy to understand, in thine own [human] tongue, so that men might take it to heart. 58 So wait thou [for what the future will bring]: behold, they, too, are waiting. 59
