Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By (the winds) that scatter dust. 1 And those who bear the load (of rain), 2 and the smooth runners 3 And those that distribute and apportion by Command;- 4 Verily that which ye are promised is true; 5 and the Day of Judgment will inevitably take place. 6 And by oath of the decorated heaven. 7 Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, 8 perverted in his views thereon is he who would deceive himself! 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Who are lost in deception. 11 They ask; "When will be the Day of Recompense?" 12 It will be the Day when they are tormented at the Fire. 13 "Taste your trial. This is what you sought to hasten." 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 Taking joy in the things which their Lord has given them. Verily, they were before this Muhsinun (good-doers - see V. 2:112). 16 They were in the habit of sleeping but little by night, 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 and [would assign] in all that they possessed a due share unto such as might ask [for help] and such as might suffer privation. 19 In the earth are signs for those having sure faith; 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 And in the heaven lies your sustenance, and the promise you are given. 22 And by the Lord of the heavens and the earth, it is the truth, even as (it is true) that ye speak. 23
