Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 And those [clouds] carrying a load [of water] 2 And those who move (on the water) gently, 3 and the partitioners, 4 Indeed, what you are promised is true. 5 And verily the Requital is surely to befall. 6 CONSIDER the firmament full of starry paths! 7 Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, 8 perverted in his views thereon is he who would deceive himself! 9 Woe to the falsehood-mongers,- 10 Who are within a flood [of confusion] and heedless. 11 They ask, "When it will be the Day of Judgment?" 12 [It will be] a Day when they will be sorely tried by the fire, 13 "Taste your trial. This is what you sought to hasten." 14 Surely the godfearing shall be among gardens and fountains 15 Taking that which their Lord will vouchsafe unto hem. Verily they have been before that well-doers. 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 And used to seek forgiveness before dawn. 18 And the beggar and the destitute had a share in their wealth. 19 In the earth are signs for those having sure faith; 20 There is also evidence of the Truth within your own selves. Will you then not see? 21 In the sky is your provision and that which you are promised. 22 Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other. 23
