The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tiding [of resurrection,] 2 whereon they are at variance. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And made sleep for you to rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 'Taste! We shall increase you not save in chastisement.' 30
