Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By those that winnow with a winnowing 1 and the burden-bearers 2 then the easy runners (the ships); 3 and execute the great task of apportioning (rainfall): 4 that what you are promised is certainly true 5 the Judgement will surely come to pass -- 6 CONSIDER the firmament full of starry paths! 7 You are surely caught in contradictions., 8 he is turned away from [the truth] who is destined to be so turned away. 9 May the conjecturers perish, 10 Who are within a flood [of confusion] and heedless. 11 they who [mockingly] ask, "When is that Day of Judgment to be?" 12 (It is) the day when they will be tormented at the Fire, 13 "Taste you your trial (burning)! This is what you used to ask to be hastened!" 14 Lo! those who keep from evil will dwell amid gardens and watersprings, 15 receiving what their Lord will give them because before this they were gooddoers. 16 They slept very little during the night 17 and at dawn would ask forgiveness, 18 And in their wealth and possessions (was remembered) the right of the (needy,) him who asked, and him who (for some reason) was prevented (from asking). 19 There are signs in the earth for those who are firm in their faith, 20 And within yourselves. Can you not perceive? 21 In the heavens there is your sustenance and that which you were promised (Paradise). 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as true as your speech. 23
