Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the swift scatterers 1 which carry clouds laden with water, 2 and the smooth runners 3 And those who distribute (it) by command, 4 Verily that which ye are promised is true; 5 the Judgement will surely come to pass -- 6 By the heaven full of paths, 7 surely you are at variance (about the Hereafter); 8 He is made to turn away from it who is (himself) averse. 9 Perish the conjecturers 10 they who blunder along, in ignorance lost 11 They ask: “When will the Day of Judgement be?” 12 (It is) the day on which they shall be tried at the fire. 13 "Taste ye your trial! This is what ye used to ask to be hastened!" 14 [But,] behold, the God-conscious will find themselves amid gardens and springs, 15 Taking that which their Lord will vouchsafe unto hem. Verily they have been before that well-doers. 16 They used to sleep only a little during the night. 17 And every morning asked forgiveness, 18 And in their substance was the right of the beggar and non-beggar. 19 In the earth there is evidence (of the Truth) for those who have strong faith. 20 There is also evidence of the Truth within your own selves. Will you then not see? 21 And in the heaven is your provision and that which ye are promised. 22 So by the Lord of heaven and earth, it is as true as your speech. 23
