Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
60 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Dunes (Al-Ahqaaf) before Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By those that winnow with a winnowing 1 Then those clouds bearing the load (of minute things in space). 2 And those that flow with ease and gentleness; 3 and the partitioners, 4 Verily, that which you are promised is true indeed, 5 and surely the Doom is about to fall! 6 CONSIDER the firmament full of starry paths! 7 Truly ye are in a doctrine discordant, 8 From which only he turns who is turned away. 9 Cursed be the liars, 10 Who are in a gulf (of ignorance) neglectful; 11 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Doom?' 12 Upon the day when they shall be tried at the Fire: 13 "Taste your trial. This is what you sought to hasten." 14 As to the Righteous, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs, 15 Taking that which their Lord giveth them; for lo! aforetime they were doers of good; 16 They used to sleep only a little during the night. 17 And in the morning they asked forgiveness. 18 and the beggar and the outcast had a share in their wealth. 19 And in the earth there are signs for those who are sure, 20 And in your own selves; so can you not perceive? 21 And in heaven is your provision, and that you are promised. 22 Then, by the Lord of heaven and earth, this is the very Truth, as much as the fact that ye can speak intelligently to each other. 23
