Hizb 53

Hath there come unto thee the story of Ibrahim's honoured guests? 24 Behold, they entered his presence, and said: "Peace!" He said, "Peace!" (and thought, "These seem) unusual people." 25 Then he turned quietly to his household, and brought forth a fat [roasted] calf, 26 and placed it before them. "Will you not eat?" he said, 27 Then he conceived a fear of them. They said: Fear not! and gave him tidings of (the birth of) a wise son. 28 Then came forward his wife, clamouring, and she smote her face, and said, 'An old woman, barren!' 29 They said, "Thus has said your Lord; indeed, He is the Wise, the Knowing." 30 ۞ 'Messengers' said he (Abraham), 'what is your errand' 31 They replied: “Behold, we have been sent to a wicked people 32 to bring down upon them showers of marked lumps of clayy. 33 They are transgressors in the presence of your Lord". 34 Then We brought forth such as were therein of the believers. 35 but We found not therein except one house of those that have surrendered themselves. 36 And We kept a sign remaining in it, for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 And in Musa: When We sent him to Firon with clear authority. 38 The Pharaoh and his forces turned away from him, saying, "He is either a magician or an insane person". 39 So We took him and his hosts, and dumped them into the sea, while he was to be blamed. 40 And in Aad. We let loose on them a withering wind 41 that left nothing it came upon, except that it was ashes. 42 And also in Thamood, when it was said to them, 'Take your enjoyment for a while!' 43 But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord, so the Sa'iqah overtook them while they were looking. 44 So they were neither able to stand up, nor were they able to take revenge. 45 The people of Noah who lived before them were also evil doing people. 46

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
