Has there come to you information about the honored guests of Ibrahim? 24 When those [heavenly messengers] came unto him and bade him peace, he answered, "[And upon you be] peace!" - [saying to himself,] "They are strangers." 25 He went quietly to his wife and returned to his guests with a fat, roasted calf. 26 and placed it before them. "Will you not eat?" he said, 27 He began to feel afraid. They said, "Do not be afraid," and then gave him the glad news of the birth of a knowledgeable son. 28 Thereupon his wife approached [the guests] with a loud cry, and struck her face [in astonishment] and exclaimed: "A barren old woman [like me]!" 29 They said: even so saith thine Lord. Verily He! He is the Wise, the Knower. 30 ۞ Said [Abraham]: "And what [else] may you have in view, O you [heavenly] messengers?" 31 They said: Lo! we are sent unto a guilty folk, 32 To send down upon them stones of baked clay. 33 Marked by your Lord for the Musrifun (polytheists, criminals, sinners those who trespass Allah's set limits in evil-doings by committing great sins). 34 We saved all the faithful in the town. 35 – and We did not find there any, apart from a single house of Muslims – 36 And We have left there a sign (i.e. the place of the Dead Sea, well-known in Palestine) for those who fear the painful torment. 37 And in Musa (Moses) (too, there is a sign). When We sent him to Fir'aun (Pharaoh) with a manifest authority. 38 and he turned away in [the pride of] his power and said, "A sorcerer [is this Moses,] or a madman!" 39 So We seized him and his hosts, and cast them into the sea. He became an object of much blame. 40 And in the 'Ad (people) (was another Sign): Behold, We sent against them the devastating Wind: 41 It spared naught that it reached, but made it (all) as dust. 42 And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" 43 They transgressed against the command of their Lord. So a blast of sound struck them and they were unable to do anything but stare. 44 they could neither stand up straight, nor were they helped. 45 And before them, We destroyed the people of Nooh; they were indeed a sinning nation. 46
