And when the angels said to Mary: 'Allah has chosen you and purified you. He has chosen you above all women of the worlds. 42 Maryam! be devout unto thy Lord, prostrate thyself, and bow down with them that bow down. 43 This account of something that was beyond the reach of thy perception We [now] reveal unto thee: for thou wert not with them when they drew lots as to which of them should be Mary's guardian, and thou wert not with them when they contended [about it] with one another. 44 When the angels said: 'O Mary, Allah gives you glad tidings of a Word (Be) from Him, whose name is Messiah, Jesus, the son of Mary. He shall be honored in this world and in the Everlasting Life and he shall be among those who are close. 45 He shall speak to people in his cradle and when he is aged, and shall be among the righteous' 46 She said: "How can I have a son, O Lord, when no man has touched me?" He said: "That is how God creates what He wills. When He decrees a thing, He says 'Be', and it is. 47 He will teach him the Law and the judgement, and the Torah and the Gospel, 48 "And (appoint him) a messenger to the Children of Israel, (with this message): "'I have come to you, with a Sign from your Lord, in that I make for you out of clay, as it were, the figure of a bird, and breathe into it, and it becomes a bird by Allah's leave: And I heal those born blind, and the lepers, and I quicken the dead, by Allah's leave; and I declare to you what ye eat, and what ye store in your houses. Surely therein is a Sign for you if ye did believe; 49 And I have come confirming that which was before me of the Taurat (Torah), and to make lawful to you part of what was forbidden to you, and I have come to you with a proof from your Lord. So fear Allah and obey me. 50 God is my Lord as well as yours. Worship Him for this is the right path." 51 ۞ But when Jesus became conscious of their disbelief, he cried: Who will be my helpers in the cause of Allah? The disciples said: We will be Allah's helpers. We believe in Allah, and bear thou witness that we have surrendered (unto Him). 52 Our Lord! we believe in that which Thou hast sent down, and, follow the apostle; write us up wherefore with the witnesses. 53 And the disbelievers planned, but Allah planned. And Allah is the best of planners. 54
