The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 And [by] a Book inscribed 2 in an exposed parchment 3 And [by] the frequented House 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 VERILY, [O man,] the suffering decreed by thy Sustainer [for the sinners] will indeed come to pass: 7 there is none who could avert it. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 and the mountains shudder and shake. 10 Then woe, that Day, to the deniers, 11 who divert themselves with idle chatter: 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Roast in it! And bear you patiently, or bear not patiently, equal it is to you; you are only being recompensed for that you were working.' 16 Lo! those who kept their duty dwell in gardens and delight, 17 Rejoicing in that which their Lord hath vouchsafed unto them; and their Lord will protect them from the torment of the Flame. 18 [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And (as for) those who believe and their offspring follow them in faith, We will unite with them their offspring and We will not diminish to them aught of their work; every man is responsible for what he shall have wrought. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 They will exchange with one another a cup [of wine] wherein [results] no ill speech or commission of sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 And some of them shall advance towards others questioning each other. 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 God has been gracious to us and has saved us from the torment of Hell's intense heat -- 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
