The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 and by the Book in lines 2 In parchment unrolled. 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 And the lofty roof. 5 And by the sea kept filled (or it will be fire kindled on the Day of Resurrection). 6 verily your Lord's chastisement shall come to pass, 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 [It will come to pass] on the Day when the skies will be convulsed in [a great] convulsion, 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 "Burn ye therein: the same is it to you whether ye bear it with patience, or not: Ye but receive the recompense of your (own) deeds." 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 They would recline on couches set in rows, paired with fair companions (clean of thought and) bright of eye. 20 And those who believe and whose offspring follow them in Faith, to them shall We join their offspring, and We shall not decrease the reward of their deeds in anything. Every person is a pledge for that which he has earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them fruit and meat in abundance - whatever they may desire: 22 while they pass therein a cup one to another wherein is no idle talk, no cause of sin, 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 before this, we used to pray to Him. Surely, He is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
