The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 by the book (Torah) written 2 on fine parchment; 3 by the established House (Mecca), 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 and by the swelling sea, 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 On the Day the heaven will sway with circular motion 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Woe, then, will be on that Day to the beliers 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 This is the Fire which you used to belie. 14 Is it magic then or do you not see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 rejoicing in whatever their Lord has given them. Their Lord has saved them from the torment of the Fire, 18 They will be told, "Eat and drink to your heart's delight for what you have done". 19 Reclining upon couches ranged in rows; and We shall espouse them to wide-eyed houris. 20 To those who have attained to faith We shall unite their offspring who have also followed them in faith, and We shall not let any of their good deeds go unrewarded; every human being is a pledge for whatever he has earned. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ And there go round, waiting on them menservants of their own, as they were hidden pearls. 24 And they [who are thus blest] will turn to one another, asking each other [about their past lives]. 25 They will say: "Aforetime, we were not without fear for the sake of our people. 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
