The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount, 1 and by the Scripture penned 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 by the much-visited House, 4 The roof raised high, 5 And the swollen sea, 6 surely, the punishment of your Lord is about to come, 7 Of it there is no averter. 8 On the day when the heaven will heave with (awful) heaving, 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 "Is this then a fake, or is it ye that do not see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 talking of what they have received from their Lord and of how their Lord has saved them from the torment of hell. 18 Eat and drink with relish for that which ye have been working. 19 They will recline on couches arranged in rows and We shall couple them with maidens with large, lovely eyes. 20 And those who believed and whose descendants followed them in faith - We will join with them their descendants, and We will not deprive them of anything of their deeds. Every person, for what he earned, is retained. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with all kinds of fruit and meat, whatever they may desire. 22 In it, they accept cups from each other, in which is neither any lewdness nor any sin. 23 ۞ And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls. 24 And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other. 25 They say, 'We were before among our people, ever going in fear, 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
