The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 For a mighty day, 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 and what shall teach thee what is Sijjin? 8 The record is a sealed text. 9 Woe unto the repudiators on that day! 10 Those who belie the Day of Requital. 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 By no means! Aye! encrusted upon their hearts is that which they have been earning. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then most surely they shall enter the burning fire. 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what do you know what the Record of the exalted ones is? 19 a written record, 20 witnessed by those who are near (to Allah). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Bliss; 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be given a drink of pure wine whereon the seal [of God] will have been set, 25 With a sealing of musk, which those who aspire for the best should desire, -- 26 a wine whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 A spring, from (the waters) whereof drink those Nearest to Allah. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 when them passed them by winking at one another, 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And when they saw them, they said: "Verily! These have indeed gone astray!" 32 But they were not Sent to be guardians over them! 33 But on the Day [of Judgment,] they who had attained to faith will [be able to] laugh at the [erstwhile] deniers of the truth: 34 as they sit on couches, gazing around. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
