The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 on fine parchment; 3 The house ever-peopled, 4 and the uplifted roof 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 There is none that can avert it; 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 And the mountains will move with a visible movement. 10 Then woe that day unto the deniers 11 Who are playing in falsehood. 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Roast therein; endure it or endure it not, thereof it is equal unto you. Ye are only being requited for that which ye have been working. 16 But in the Gardens the righteous shall live in bliss, 17 Happy because of what their Lord hath given them, and (because) their Lord hath warded off from them the torment of hell-fire. 18 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do." 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 They will therein snatch from one another a cup; therein will be neither vain babble nor sin. 23 ۞ and there go round them youths, their own, as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They will advance to each other, engaging in mutual enquiry. 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
