The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the mount 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 in an exposed parchment 3 By the House Frequented. 4 By the roof elevated. 5 And the swollen sea, 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 Woe, then, on that Day to all who give the lie to the truth 11 Those who are playing in pursuits. 12 The day they are dragged and pushed into Hell, 13 (And told:) "This is the fire which you denied. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Endure the heat thereof, and whether ye are patient of it or impatient of it is all one for you. Ye are only being paid for what ye used to do. 16 Verily, the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2) will be in Gardens (Paradise), and Delight. 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 [And they will be told:] "Eat and drink with good cheer as an outcome of what you were wont to do, 19 They will recline (with ease) on Thrones (of dignity) arranged in ranks; and We shall join them to Companions, with beautiful big and lustrous eyes. 20 The offspring of the believers will also follow them to Paradise. So shall We join their offspring to them because of their faith. We shall reduce nothing from their deeds. Everyone will be responsible for his own actions. 21 We shall give them fruits and meat as they desire. 22 They will pass cups of un-intoxicating and unsinful wine to one another. 23 ۞ Youths as fair as hidden pearls will be set apart to wait upon them; they will be running to and fro to serve them. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 We used to pray to Him erstwhile; He is the just and merciful. 28
